SPACESWORDS is a tabletop role-playing game that combines simple combat rules with complex character advancement. The game takes inspiration from sci-fi space opera and shonen anime to create a power fantasy where each player has exceptional strength and exceptional weakness.

This free ashcan is a limited selection of what will be available in the full SPACESWORDS game. It includes:

• A complete and playable ruleset complete with character sheet
• Nine playable classes and 21 "techniques" for character advancement
• 17 creatures for GM use in encounters and useful reference tools for GM balancing

The full release will include:

• A prepackaged module for you to run out of the box
• New techniques, creatures, and items
• Rules for vehicles, like spaceships and mechs

The SPACESWORDS ashcan is a snapshot of SPACESWORDS as it existed at the time of its creation intended to let you experience the game in a limited capacity. Rules and mechanics from the full edition of SPACESWORDS are likely to differ from their iterations in the ashcan. Necessary errata and balance changes will be reflected in the final release but are unlikely to be retroactively applied to the ashcan.
